Video shows moment that led to woman falling from police car to death

Georgia authorities on Friday released body camera footage of an incident last month in which a woman died after falling from a police car in handcuffs.

The parents of Brianna Grier, 28, said they called 911 and threatened to hurt herself and her three-year-old twins after she developed mental health issues.Greer was diagnosed with schizophrenia Multiple reports.

Body camera footage from one of the officers showed Greer insisting she was not intoxicated and demanding a breath test before being placed in the patrol car.

She was then seen wrestling with police as they carried her into their car. Greer was also heard yelling that police had to knock her over to get her in the car.

As one of the deputies brandished his stun gun, Greer shouted, “You can stun me, I don’t care, I don’t care.” The deputy then holstered the stun gun, saying he wouldn’t stun her.

Two officers eventually lifted Greer off the ground and placed her in a police car. Less than a minute into the drive, footage showed a deputy stopping and leaving his vehicle.

Then Greer was seen lying motionless on the side of the road, face down. Despite the deputy calling her name and repeatedly tapping her side, Greer did not respond.

Another officer, who appeared to be driving another vehicle, then arrived at the scene and announced that Greer was still breathing. Officers then tried to get Greer to sit up as they called for an ambulance but were unsuccessful.

Greer’s parents, Marvin and Mary, demanded answers about their daughter’s death. “We need answers. We need an end. We need to know the truth,” Marvin Greer said. According to CBS News.

Crump criticized the police’s actions as “reckless behavior”. “There is a deliberate indifference to people with mental health crises,” he said, according to the outlet.
