
Country music star Kenny Chesney said he was “shocked” by the fall and death of an unidentified female fan after the singer performed Saturday night at Denver’s Mile High’s Empower Field .
Chesney, 54, Denver Post Sunday. “Life is precious. Sharing the music brings us together, and the love we share makes us better. There are no words for the woman who came to share this love. For the loss of her friends and family, I am with them Grief, and for them.”
Denver police say the woman was sitting on an escalator railing when she fell into the lobby below and died of her injuries tweet Sunday. They said the death being investigated was accidental.
Empower Field also released a statement on the incident Twitter“Our deepest sympathies go out to the loved ones of the women involved in the tragic events that took place at the end of Saturday’s Empower Field concert at Mile High,” the statement said.
This is reportedly the third death inquest at the stadium in the past eight years CBS Colorado.
In 2015, a man fell from one level of the stadium to the level below while chasing a hat that was blown away by the wind, according to CBS in Colorado. Police said they believe intoxication was a factor in the fatal incident.
Then, a year later, the father of five who was at the Denver Broncos game fell down a few floors in the stairwell. A lawsuit claims the stairwell was out of specification. The lawsuit was settled out of court, CBS Colorado reported.
Chesney is on his annual summer tour, which, according to him, ends on Aug. 27 at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts. website.
