
In his 2022 season debut against the Nationals on Tuesday night, metropolis pitcher Jacob DeGrom Pitched five innings in a stellar return to the mound. He last played in MLB on July 7, 2021.

Before the regular season began, deGrom suffered a stress reaction in his right shoulder blade, which put him on the injured list. He’s been in Illinois longer than initially expected due to multiple setbacks.
In July, deGrom was assigned a four-game rehab assignment at Triple-A Syracuse. His last rehab start, which was also delayed after he experienced some mild shoulder soreness, was last Wednesday. It was his most inconsistent start to date as he dropped four runs in four innings, but was still sure the pitcher was ready for his season debut in the majors.

The four-time All-Star is now back in the pitching rotation with multiple-time Cy Young champion Max Scherzer, who also delayed the start of the 2022 season after dealing with an oblique strain in mid-May. He returned to the mound on July 5 and has been in the regular rotation since.
