Man murdered in Spanish city wanted for rape of Ukrainian woman

A 27-year-old man, who was murdered in a brawl in the Spanish city of Valladolid this week, is being pursued by police for kidnapping and raping a Ukrainian girl two weeks ago.

Spanish national police have been searching for the 27-year-old man, who is said to be carrying fake Portuguese identity documents, 15 days before he was murdered in connection with the alleged kidnapping of a Ukrainian woman.

Police said the man, whose initials are BLC, was the victim of a fatal shooting outside a private nightclub late Sunday night into Monday morning when he was shot in the chest by a 35-year-old man who was apparently related to fights about drugs, Le Monde Report.

After his death, police were able to identify the 27-year-old woman as the suspect they had been looking for in the kidnapping case, where the man is said to have confronted the Ukrainian woman who allegedly worked as a prostitute. Will be in an apartment in the town of Burgos.

On Sunday, July 17, the Spanish national police freed the woman from captivity and found “a large amount of drugs” in the apartment. An arrest warrant was subsequently issued for the man on charges including sexual abuse and drug trafficking.

The 35-year-old later shot and killed the 27-year-old, who was identified using CCTV footage of the nightclub where the brawl and subsequent shooting occurred, but was said to have fled the area in his car, which also Got affirmed.

Since the outbreak of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, many have warned that Ukrainian female refugees are victims of human trafficking, including sex trafficking.

Shirin Tinnesand, refugee and migrant coordinator at the NGO Wadi, warned of the vulnerability of refugees in early March, saying: “They are at risk of human trafficking, prostitution, organ donation. Only imagination can set boundaries.”

Since the start of the conflict in Western European countries, there have been several reports of abuse of Ukrainian refugee women, and others of Ukrainians becoming prostitutes, for example in Sweden.
