Mirage sealed off after one killed in hotel room shooting: Police

The Mirage Hotel in Las Vegas was put on lockdown Thursday night after reports of a shooting in a hotel room.

Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department wrote in a tweet It is investigating a shooting and someone was pronounced dead.

“We are investigating a shooting in a Mirage hotel room. One person has been pronounced dead,” the department wrote. “This is an active investigation and we will provide more information as it becomes available. Please avoid the area. .”

At press time, it was unclear if the blockade had been lifted.

Ronald Hohmann, who was at Mirage City at the time of the incident, tweeted a video showing a group of uniformed police officers walking through the premises. Hohmann told Insider he heard of a shooting in one of the rooms.

Another video from the scene shows a group of law enforcement officers walking through the premises.

Photos and video from the scene showed what appeared to be a group of people being held near one of the hotel’s entrances.

Saeed Ahmed, NPR’s director of digital news, reported that access to the second and eighth floors had been blocked, and staff said an investigation was underway.

Video from the scene also showed police cars parked outside the hotel.

8 News Now anchor Sasha Loftis At 11pm – about two hours after news of the lockdown first broke – it was reported that crime scene tapes in front of The Mirage had been taken down and guests were allowed to re-enter.

A representative for The Mirage did not immediately respond to Insider’s request for comment.
