- In a recent interview, Elon Musk’s father, Errol, said he wasn’t proud of the billionaire because his family “has done a lot for a long time.”
- In a Daily Mail interview published on Friday, Errol walked back his remarks, saying he was actually proud of Elon.
- Errol said he initially said no because he misheard the question: “I thought she was asking, ‘Are you expecting this to happen?'”
Elon Musk’s father says he is, in fact, proud of his son, despite his previous claims to the contrary.
in a interview Earlier this week, on “The Kyle and Jackie O Show” in Australia, 76-year-old Errol Musk was asked if he was proud to be the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX.
Errol responded, “No, well, you know, I mean, we’re a family that’s been doing a lot of things for a long time. We’re not suddenly starting to do something.”
Errol went on to say that Elon’s younger brother Kimbal was his “proud and joy,” but added, “But Elon has actually surpassed the bar.”
in a new interviewIn an article published by the Daily Mail on Friday, Errol said he initially said the only reason he was not proud of Elon was because he had misheard the question.
“I didn’t actually notice her question about pride. I thought she was asking, ‘Are you expecting this to happen?'” Errol told the Daily Mail.
“It was a little confusing because the other lad (Kyle) was a nice guy and he laughed a lot, so what she (Jackie O) was saying when I was talking,” he continued, referring to the TV host. “I didn’t realize it until I listened to the recording.”
Errol clarified that he was proud of Elon, saying: “If you ask any parent if they are proud of their son, you are proud of them from the day they were born.”
In an interview with the Daily Mail, Errol also said Elon had texted him after the last interview asking him to “keep quiet”. Errol’s remarks in several interviews have made headlines in recent weeks, including his revealing that he has a second child with his 35-year-old stepdaughter. Musk Sr. also said he was asked to donate his sperm to create more people like Elon.
