Melanie Lynskey says she was ashamed on set of ‘Coyote Ugly’

The musical stars Piper Perabo as Violet, a small-town girl who moves to New York to pursue her songwriting dreams. Lynskey played a character named Gloria, who was Violet’s best friend in New Jersey.

Joining her “Yellow Jackets” cast members Christina Ricci, Juliette Lewis and Tawny Cypress, Lynskey discusses the disturbing comments she’s received from certain cast members.

Lynskey told THR that she and her “Coyote Ugly” co-star were placed in a “treatment regimen.” Additionally, Lynskey revealed that she wore shapewear on set.

“It’s ridiculous, I’ve starved myself, I’ve lost as much weight as I can for this body, and I’m still a [size] Fourth,” she told the outlet. “That was already people putting a lot of Spanx on my wardrobe accessories, and when they saw me, they were so disappointed, and the costume designers were like, ‘Nobody told me there would be something like yours girl. “

Lynskey recounted her “starving herself” as Gloria in the 2000 musical “Ugly Coyotes.”

Lynskey added that she also received “strong feedback” about her body.

“It’s just that the feedback is always like, ‘You’re not pretty. You’re not pretty,'” the actress told THR.

The harsh feedback didn’t end with monitoring her eating habits, Lynskey said. In the interview, she said that a costume designer once told her, “No one told me there would be a girl like you.” She continued, adding that a makeup artist offered to give her when she was on set. “A little more jaw line”.

The actress also revealed how she treated other supporting actresses while filming. According to Lynskey, her “Ugly Coyote” supporting character Perabo was under a strong microscope on set.
