Tulsi Gabbard questions Kamala Harris’ ‘hypocrisy’ against Britney Greener after prosecuting marijuana crime as California AG

On FNC’s “Tucker Carlson Tonight” Friday, former Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-HI) criticized Vice President Kamala Harris for his double standards of justice against WNBA player Britney Griner.

Griner has been sentenced to nine years in Russia for violating Russian drug laws after he was caught possessing a marijuana vape cartridge.

Gabbard compared Harris’ rhetoric calling for Griner’s release to her tenure as California attorney general and the prosecution and imprisonment of those accused of marijuana possession.

“[A]Another hypocritical note from Kamala Harris and this administration, as you mentioned how you gave some examples of this during her stellar record as California attorney general, Gabbard said. “She kept prisoners in jail for longer than their sentences, using them as free slave labor. At the same time, however, these people are condemning other countries for doing the same. It doesn’t make any sense. “

“When I saw Kamala Harris’ tweet and her statement expressing her outrage at Britney Greenner, it struck me that, first of all, let me say, I don’t think anywhere in the world should be because Jailed for possession of marijuana,” she continued. “Period. Full stop. When you look at Kamala Harris’ statement on Twitter, she’s expressing her anger at Britney Greenner. The question for the Den administration is, where is your anger at the fellow Americans who are being held in prisons in the United States of America today for minor marijuana violations?”

“Why don’t you fight as hard as you did for Britney Greener to get them home and reunite with their families?” Gabbard added. “To me, the message to the American people through their actions is loud and clear. It’s that if you’re rich or famous, you’re going to get special treatment from this government. If you’re not, we don’t care about you. , we’ll let you sit there and rot in prison.”
