Virgil van Dijk ridiculed for ‘Van Dijk’ nickname after Fulham 2-2 Liverpool

Virgil Van Dijk Dubbed “Vin Disney” on social media for poor performance Liverpool2-2 draw with Fulham.

The Reds were twice behind at Craven Cottage on Saturday afternoon, with Van Dijk having a poor performance against Aleksandar Mitrovic.

The Serbia international scored twice and was a thorn in Liverpool’s defence for the full 90 minutes.

Van Dijk is considered one of the best one-on-one defenders in world football, and he definitely doesn’t want anything to do with Mitrovic.

Unfortunately for him, Mitrovic was back in the 72nd minute when Van Dijk brought the Serbia international down in the penalty area, with referee Andy Madley pointing.

Liverpool players were outraged by the decision, but Van Dijk knew he had made a mistake.

This is the first time Van Dijk has been dribbled and conceded in a single Premier League game since joining Liverpool in 2018.

Mitrovic stepped forward and kicked his penalty past Alisson to give Fulham a second lead.

Online supporters reacted to Van Dijk’s performance and his new global nickname “Van Dijk”.

Darwin Nunes and Mohamed Salah scored the equaliser after each of Mitrovic’s attacks to ensure the points were shared.

Liverpool’s pace has slowed from last weekend’s Community Shield win over Manchester City.

A number of players were out due to injury, and Thiago left the field with a suspected hamstring injury.

Klopp told BT Sport in a post-match interview: “The best thing about this game was the result, we got a point from a really bad game around me. The attitude at the beginning was not right, we wanted to Fighting back but we found it wasn’t that easy anymore.

“The results are good, we shouldn’t have gotten more, but the performance can be greatly improved.”
