It’s the Australia v England final in the grass bowling women’s duo this morning, with the hosts leading 7-2 after four games.

England’s Sophie Tochard is hoping to do better than her brother Sam, who lost the men’s double final on Tuesday.

Tolchards come from sports royalty. In addition to her brother, their grandfather, Tommy, bowled for England, and their father, Ray, as a junior tennis player at Wimbledon and a referee in 40 first-class cricket matches.

Uncle Roger and Uncle Jeff Tochard have both played top-notch cricket for Leicestershire, while Roger has played in four Tests in England.

She and partner Amy Pharoah both already have Commonwealth gold medals – trio Sophie in 2014 and duo in 2010.

But so did Australia’s Alan Ryan, who won a memorable singles gold medal earlier this week. She played with Christina Kostic.
