CNN anchor Brian Stelt said Sunday on his show “Reliable Sources” that the ongoing federal investigation of President Joe Biden’s son Hunter “is not just a right-wing media story” .
Stelter added that Hunter’s legal danger could jeopardize his father’s chances of re-election in 2024.
Stelter said: “Maureen Dodd basically said in this morning’s New York Times op-ed that Joe Biden shouldn’t be running for re-election. That’s been a statement for months, and it’s getting more and more Loud, including some Democratic lawmakers saying Biden should basically hang it, saying he’s a lame duck and won’t run in 2024. So where do you think this is a former White House aide?”
Michael LaRosa, the former press secretary for First Lady Jill Biden, said: “I hope he can run. I know he’s going to run. As he’s said many times, he’s planning to run.”
“Biden’s age makes it unique,” Stewart asked.
“I don’t understand why he didn’t run. I haven’t heard the reason,” La Rosa said.
Stelter said: “What about his son, what about Hunter? Hunter is under federal investigation and charges could come at any time. This is not just a right-wing media story. This is a real problem for the Biden family. “Can he decide not to run for re-election considering his son?”
“Look, they make decisions as a family, and they’ll make those decisions in due course,” La Rosa said.
Stelter asked, “Do you think they’ve talked about it?”
La Rosa said, “No. The president is doing his job, and he’s doing his job. He’s not focused on it. 19 months! Why is he doing this?”
