Sabrina Ionescu becomes first WNBA player to set 500/200/200 season record

Sabrina Ionescu broke her third season with a WNBA record in the Liberty’s road game against the Mercury on Saturday.

Inescu, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2020 draft, became the first player in WNBA history to score at least 500 points, 200 rebounds and 200 assists in a single season after delivering an assist within 30 seconds of kickoff. The 24-year-old star’s historic corner came on an open crystal hazard field 3-pointer to give New York an early 3-2 lead.

The Liberty fell to the Mercury at 76-62, slipping to 13-19 on the season.
